Anti-alert: Big Top Scooby-Doo!
Hey guys, not sure if anyone else caught this but the newest Scooby direct-to-video movie called Big Top Scooby-Doo!
was on Cartoon Network tonight. This is the latest one after Music of the Vampire and features the gang helping out a ringmaster whose circus is being plagued by werewolf attacks, or so it would seem. Anyway, I was keeping a close eye out for any Daphne DiD and I'm sad to say she gets nothing in this one. Even worse though was that I thought this movie was going to at least produce a scene with a different lady bound and gagged, but instead all it delivered was an incredibly cruel tease.
Near the end of the film, the gang finds the ringmaster guy b&g in a boxcar and you could logically assume that we will also get to see them discovering two other people who had also been abducted by the "werewolves." One of these people is a sexy blonde trapeze artist lady who had also gone missing earlier (though I don't think her capture was ever shown, only mentioned). But all we get to see in the very next shot is the gang outside the boxcars, and Velma removing the last of her ropes, with the gag already long gone. This is very disappointing because it certainly seems implied that she was also bound and gagged in a different boxcar, yet she's really not even tied anymore in the brief glimpse we get of her last ropes being removed. Damn shame since while it's not Daphne this chick was pretty damn fine and would definitely have looked great all roped and gagged.
Oh, and here's the real kicker: The ringmaster guy? Yeah, he gets b&g AGAIN in another scene before the end of the film.
So make that 2 shown b&g GiD scenes to 0 shown DiD scenes in this one. So frustrating.

Re: Anti-alert: Big Top Scooby-Doo!
sounds like the typical scenario nowadays in cartoons, shame she didn't get a scene though, maybe an artist can fix that scene. that all said, can you provide a link to the blondie? you've got me curious as to how she looks
Re: Anti-alert: Big Top Scooby-Doo!
ah yeah i saw this scene like 2 months ago, but didn't report anything because all the great scenes were not showed; even more the same guy gets tied up and gagged twice, so i was really pissed and left it

Here's the woman, named Lena: http://scoobydoo.wikia.com/wiki/Lena_(Big_Top_Scooby-Doo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;!) Her body is quite nice as you can see, so it's a shame we didn't get to see it in ropes. Like you said though, there's always art. Might even have to take a shot at her "unseen scene" myself sometime!sounds like the typical scenario nowadays in cartoons, shame she didn't get a scene though, maybe an artist can fix that scene. that all said, can you provide a link to the blondie? you've got me curious as to how she looks
Yeah, I can understand why you didn't mention it since there was really nothing to see here for DiD, only to fantasize about. But I just figured I might as well save others from getting their hopes up and put the word out on it. Like you said, the guy getting not 1 but 2 b&g scenes really fried my bacon too, since they couldn't even bother to show the chick restrained for a second. This movie wasn't all bad as it at least had Daphne in a sexy "motorcycle girl" unitard and a cute clown costume. The deliberately skipped DiD scenes were a huge letdown though. But I can't stay too mad at Scooby, since he's given us so many great scenes of Daphne and other DiDs b&g over the years, and it's way more than most cartoons deliver. At least with Scooby we always know there's a chance for some quality DiD scenes. I just keep thinking that Daphne has got to get a b&g scene in one of these direct-to-video movies sooner or later. I mean seriously, I think this one was #18 of those or something, and she hasn't been gagged in one yet, so she's due. Keep your fingers crossed and I think it'll happen someday.ah yeah i saw this scene like 2 months ago, but didn't report anything because all the great scenes were not showed; even more the same guy gets tied up and gagged twice, so i was really pissed and left it

oh nice! yeah she looks good, I see she's even got a good amount of eye shadow too, don't see that too often in Scooby Doo stuff, almost seems like they created her for a tease then lol. but yeah, shame she didn't get the treatment, typical that they instead showed the guy twice. thanks though, to you guys for staying so alert on this kind of scene stuffbondagefan14 wrote:There she is! Indeed this was quite disappointing when ghostz alerted me to it. If only the camera panned over to her...

Yup. I mean, they could have handled it so simply too. Why not just have her, the fat clown guy, and the ringmaster dude all b&g together in the same boxcar? I'm no GiD fan but I'd rather have some putzes together in there with a DiD than no DiD at all. I guess they were just trying to save the animators some work or something. You'd think they'd know after all these years though that the DiD is one of the things people love most about Scooby! Gotta keep the fanbase happy!Indeed this was quite disappointing when ghostz alerted me to it. If only the camera panned over to her...

yep you are totally right, and as you said let's keep our fingers crossed and wait for the next scooby movie or episode from SD Mistery Inc.

Are you seriously saying that the Scooby Doo fandom is based around DiD? I mean... I love DiD as much as anyone else here, but as of late, the board members are starting to voice some wild opinions. It's like, everyone forgot what reality is. It might be what *we* like about the series, but it's certainly not applicable in general.

Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow! Are you saying people watch Scooby Doo only for the DID? well that's not true, I watch Scooby Doo because it's funny.somedude37 wrote:Yup. Re: Anti-alert: Big Top Scooby-Doo!
Wow...never figured one little comment about people liking DiD in Scooby would generate such a stink on this board of all places. Maybe I chose my words poorly and I exaggerated a bit but I do think there is a significant portion of the Scooby fanbase that watches it mainly for the potential DiD. Not saying it's a majority but I do think there's a significant portion of the fanbase that loves that element of it more than anything else. Heck, even when I was a little boy I knew that was my main interest in the show. Sure, Scooby and Shaggy were funny and I liked all the creepy-looking monsters who always turned out to be crooks in disguise. I certainly liked those other elements of it a lot too. But the main draw for me was always Daphne and the DiD. Just knowing there was always a chance for Daphne to get captured, tied up, and gagged by a villain, well...I know that was what kept me glued to the show more than anything, even in those early years of my youth. I know that wasn't a singular experience either. Scooby and Daphne have exposed several generations of young boys (and some girls too) to their love of DiD.
Daphne's reputation as a DiD is legendary. She's like one of the top 3 most beloved damsels of all-time and it's not even close. Just go do a websearch or look on Deviantart and see how many hundreds of pics there are of her. Almost more than any other character in existence other than maybe April O'Neil. Would that be the case if there weren't a helluva lot of Scooby fans who love the DiD element of it? No. It's not exactly a secret that Scooby has traditionally not shyed away from DiD, and I think a lot of fans look forward to new scenes as much as I do. Doesn't mean he wouldn't be popular without the DiD, but would he have attained quite the same level of insane global popularity if DiD had never been part of it?
I doubt it.

Re: Anti-alert: Big Top Scooby-Doo!
you are right; only if we compare the rest of the Scooby series with "Shaggy and Scooby-Doo get a clue" (weakest serie of all time in my opinion). After this 2 season series, the producers diverted back to the old Scooby-Doo type of series: same cloths, DID scenes (this time involving Velma too), villains in costumes, etc.
And regarding Daphne Blake on Deviantart, she has a new DID scene like every week.
