The legend of Calamity Jane

Post by uhu »

Blast from the past.
Rather unknown and short-lived french-US cartoon from 1997.
Only 13 eps were produced. In France it was only aired on the subscription channel Canal +.
Production team behind it was the same that did Arsène Lupin / nighthood. So similar chara design, with Jane looking like a freaking Vampire with a completeley white skin.
3 DID, no gags:
Ep 4: Jane and her buddy get each tied to a pole

Ep 1: Jane gets suspended, but hands untied
https://youtu.be/fGWF3gmS8GU?t=790
Ep 13: Long scenes, Jane is seen tied up at the beginning, and then lots of flash backs with new scenes

Call me obsessed, but I can't fathom how this was found and not Carnaby Street.

The last scene is weird as fuck.

I actually found this after looking for carnaby^^. I completely forgot about the show to be honest, I believe I saw one episode when I was a teen, but it left me rather unimpressed.
The French versions were recorded straight from Canal +, god knows how the uploader still had it. But this show was later edited on DVD and aired on Teletoon, that helps to get some copies I guess, while carnaby was never aired in North America.

Are you sure? Because I remember reading somewhere it aired in syndicated markets in the US in 1999.

Well, it was not a French-US coproduction, was as it seems never dubbed in English so I doubt it was aired there.

DrProton is correct. It was created for the WB animation run for Saturday morning cartoons and the mouths were even specifically animated for the English Dub. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnuuGeVYMh4

I have acquired the Kickstarter DVD form a few months ago. Always liked this cartoon and it's nice to have a hard copy :)

Uhu was talking about Carnaby, not Calamity. Easy mistake.
