Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
I doubt it will be 2099 Spidey, does Doc Ock's big plan in issue 700 involve parallel universes? I think Slott is just trolling people. Whoever Superior Spidey is will probably be someone currently intro'd in the Spider-man comics. My bet is currently on Phil Urich (one of the two current Hobgoblins), but we'll see...

Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
Amazing Spider-Man #698 has been leaked onto the internet and I'll give you the big part to save your cash.
SPOILERS!
POINT OF NO RETURN!!
Highlight to view --> Doc Ock switches bodies with Peter Parker; he's running around in Spidey's body now as his old body, with Peter stuck inside, apparently dies.

Hid the initial thing with a highlight to view trick. I think I'll include a "spoiler" tag for posts just in case.

It's over, people; it's over. I'm done with Marvel; this is a complete slap to the face for anyone whoever called themselves a Spider-Man fan.

Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
So apparently, judging by that one panel, JJJ is totally cool with vigilante killing now?

I don't know anymore; He punched the guy's jaw off or something; don't know if he killed him or not.Suicide wrote:So apparently, judging by that one panel, JJJ is totally cool with vigilante killing now?

Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
Alright, since Suchiro put it bluntly that the topic should be in this thread (and I'm a dumb-ass not putting it in this one in the first place), I'm going to ask again. Doc Ock as Spidey; what does the board think?Suichiro wrote:I can't roll my eyes at you hard enough. Seriously, this could have just gone in the other thread.rider28031 wrote: That topic was about the announcement of the new Superior Spider-Man series; this one is just to ask what people on the board think of the whole 'Doc Ock is Spidey now' part itself.
Edit: No, fuck that. This SHOULD have gone in the other thread.
Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
From what I read in Avenging #15.1, I don't like this new "Spider-Ock". They made it seem like he changed a lot at the end of #700, but he's just a really condescending Spiderman. I preferred him as the mad scientist we all know and love.

Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
So I read Superior Spider-Man #1 just to be optimistic; maybe Slott could actually do something interesting with this.
He does... this is not a good thing.
Spidey-Ock acts exactly how people expected him to act: cocky, arrogant, and a bit perverted for staring at Mary-Jane's chest on a date. It's clear to me that even though I didn't like the Avenging Spider-Man epilogue because he changed too quickly, at least Christopher Yost tried to make Otto repentant and learn from his mistakes. Here, it seems the experiences haven't changed him at all. I know the whole point of the series is to show his growth as a character, but it's pretty hard when he nearly beats a guy to death in front of the newspeoplethat Spidey-Ock called in the first place! The biggest kicker has to be the ending of the story, where, I shit you not, Spidey-Ock is actually being shadowed by the ghost of Peter Parker, who swears he's going to get his body back and prevent Otto from crossing the line. I swear my forehead has a giant red spot now because I slapped it so hard from the silliness of it.
I'll give it a two or more issues to see if it improves, but I've lost faith with Spider-Man now.

Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
It's hard to like this new Spider-Ock when it's stated in THE FIRST ISSUE that it's going to be undone. We all know it's going to happen, but they should at least pretend like this is permanent. It's hard to like a character who's writer is just waiting to get rid of them. But I probably wouldn't have liked him in the first place, anyway.rider28031 wrote:The biggest kicker has to be the ending of the story, where, I shit you not, Spidey-Ock is actually being shadowed by the ghost of Peter Parker, who swears he's going to get his body back and prevent Otto from crossing the line.
Re: The Superior Spider-Man Announced
It looks like Miguel O'Hara is going to be in Superior Spiderman after all. Slott himself said so in an interview. Here's the link: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2013/01/0 ... ott-video/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And here's some cool artwork of the two
Thoughts?
