Re: Seriously?
Don't pretend this didn't happen.
Speaking of Ultimate Universe... Should I bring up Ultimatum?
I can agree that this decision is not looking promising but don't pretend Marvel has their hands clean on dumb crap!

Re: Seriously?
God if you need to know all that is bad about Ultimatum check out Linkara's multi part review. Just ... damn ....
Re: Seriously?
I can't pretend that barrel chested Cap didn't happen. But history has a weird way of repeating itself, no?
Never read Ultimatum. By that point they realized how God awful the Ultimate line had gotten and they wanted to revamp it yet again. They needed to just let go of what was already done. That was the whole point of Ultimates.

Re: Seriously?
I agree with that. The moment I saw Ultimate U going down hill was when they turned Ultimate Doom into regular Doom because fans were RAGING over him not being exactly the same as regular Doom. Very irritating. They needed to just let go of what was already done. That was the whole point of Ultimates.
Aha! That's my point! Now YOU'RE comparing it to Heroes Reborn too!But history has a weird way of repeating itself, no?
Re: Seriously?
How can one page so eloquently sum up this mess? Excellent post, Erikson.
Of course, that was probably what a lot of older fans were saying in 1956 when they brought out Barry Allen. Maybe I'm being too cynical.
Nah...
Catwoman: Think you can handle me?
Batman: I've got handcuffs.
Catwoman: Ooh.

Re: Seriously?
So do you think they don't notice Rob Liefield can't draw or are they deliberately hiring him to annoy fans?Gambit wrote:I can't pretend that barrel chested Cap didn't happen. But history has a weird way of repeating itself, no?
Also I have only just now noticed the teeny tiny beak on Dove's mask. It looks stupid.
Re: Seriously?
I noticed that stupid beak too but didn't want to nerd rant about it but fuck, it just needs to be pointed out. It looks so stupid! Who the hell would fear a chick dressed as a bird with a stupid little beak on an eye mask? God I hope it's not used as a weapon.

Well her last costume wasn't particularly terrifying either.Gambit wrote:I noticed that stupid beak too but didn't want to nerd rant about it but fuck, it just needs to be pointed out. Baby blue with a white thong/diaper thing and topped with a fluffy white half cape.
Well not as embarrassing as when the dude used to wear it.

or a guy dressed like a BatGambit wrote:Who the hell would fear a chick dressed as a bird with a stupid little beak on an eye mask?
or a guy dressed like a Hawk
or a guy dressed like a Spider
or a guy wearing a helmet with birdie wings on it
or a guy wearing a cowl with birdie wings throwing an oversized frisbie
it's comics
Re: Seriously?
Batman has a big headgear decked out as a...bat. Hawkman dressed as a giant hawk with his head dress including a beak that goes over his nose. But this little tiny beak, on a "robin" mask is just silly. Think about the others designing their outfits. Bruce Wayne sitting there going, "Man this will strike fear in bad guys". Even Spidey, you can imagine a teenager going nuts on an outfit. Now, Hawk and Doves outfits were never, EVER brilliant. And yes, even worse was when Dove was a guy. (I loved the animated JLU episode with them though. Brilliant casting too). But my gripe is, why a little teeny tiny beak? Why? If I were a bad guy I'd just punch that thing into her forehead.

Re: Seriously?
It's obviously to make the bad guys get distracted by how stupid it is. Then they get kicked in the back.
My children called me "Daddy". My wife called me "Milien". Now the world will learn to call me... NOX...
Re: Seriously?
I don't see the outfit as any sillier than your average superhero costume, is Spider-man existed, I have a hard time thinking anyone would be nervous being confronted by a guy dressed like that. 95% of superhero stuff requires suspension of disbelief, we are just so invested in our own favorite characters that we forget how silly they all look.Gambit wrote:Batman has a big headgear decked out as a...bat. An itty bitty beak on your nose is another.
Re: Seriously?
I don't see the difference...familiarity makes a guy in tights with webs under his arms not silly, 95% of superhero costumes look foolish in anytjing but a comics contextInvaderman6 wrote:Spidey is one thing.erikson wrote: I don't see the outfit as any sillier than your average superhero costume, is Spider-man existed, I have a hard time thinking anyone would be nervous being confronted by a guy dressed like that. 95% of superhero stuff requires suspension of disbelief, we are just so invested in our own favorite characters that we forget how silly they all look.
