There are also some hostages in the opening chapter of the game.

If you enter through the front door, a timer triggers and all the hostages will die if you don't disarm the gas discharging bomb in time.
The weird thing is that when you do, all the hostages are magically untied.

However, if you find a secret path and enter through an air vent, the bomb won't be triggered.
