According to your friendly neighborhood Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man is indeed Jewish. “Spider-man is neurotic,” says Garfield. “Peter Parker is not a simple dude. He can’t just switch off. He never feels like he’s doing enough. And Peter suffers from self-doubt. He ums and ahs about his future because he’s neurotic. He’s Jewish. It’s a defining feature.” He goes on to say: “I hope Jewish people won’t mind the cliché, because my father’s Jewish. I have that in me for sure. He’s an over-thinker. It would be much easier if he was a life-saving robot.” You can interpret this any way that you'd like, of course.

Why would that make anyone "feel" anything? Spider-Man's been written as ambiguously New York Jewish for decades.

Jewish people don't have a monopoly on being neurotic over-thinkers. Of course, Stan Lee is Jewish, so maybe his dialog in the early days came across as Jewish by accident. I doubt Stan was intentionally writing the dialog that way. And given Steve Ditko's huge influence on Spider-Man, an influence that exists to this day, Peter's neuroses are more traceable to Ayn Rand than being Jewish.
