Is the "In Distress" world dying?

I've been a fan of iD for many years now. And I've seen them come, and I've seen them go. But lately I can't help but notice that amount of people who are even trying to contribute to the collection has been getting smaller and smaller. So, I have to ask: Are people leaving the phase of "Distress", or is the pool of resources shrinking that much?
