Bandits & Pirates = DID

Nowadays, I always associate bandits, pirates, brigands, etc. with kidnapping and imprisonment.

I am in the middle of playing Witcher III, so anytime I come across bandits or pirates, I immediately think about them kidnapping girls and holding them captive in a dungeon deep in their lair or whatever.

It's a classic trope of literature and pretty much any form of entertainment that uses them. It helps that they are historically known for kidnapping an ransoming, I'd imagine.
