Looks like every new sonic game is going to be on iPad, If this happens with Nintendo, then it is the end of the world for us.

It's not a huge deal. The mobile and app market has exploded these last few years and changed the way people play games.

Beeing 28 grew up with Sega and NIntendo and therefore these are very sad news. I hate all this mobile games stuff with a passion and seeing Sega on this makes me wanne hurl. I pray that this will never happen to Nintendo. I want my Mario, Zelda, Metroid... on a real console. Such a shame even though Sega games were more and more lacking quality in the last few years.

Can't say I'm surprised.
Sega's been dying ever since the Genesis.
Which is to say, ever since the 32x, the company's been in a downward spiral, and it seems it's finally come to this.

I don't see how this is a downward spiral. More and more people are using their iPhones and tablet computers to play games so why would they want to deny themselves a burgeoning market?

Re: Sega Ditches Console Games to go Mobile
Nintendo's shareholders wanted Iwata to start putting Mario games on IOS to take advantage of all the little cheats you can do with IOS to make more profit, and he refused. The IOS market is popular among folks who casually play games, but it has a terrible stigma with most gaming demographics due to terrible quality control (hi countless endless runners!), so when you make a complete switch like this, you're alienating a lot of people that were previously buying your stuff, and it hurts trust in your brand.disguiseartist1 wrote:I don't see how this is a downward spiral. That's just the danger of progression. Smartphones aren't going away and even if there is resistance now that doesn't exactly solve the issue. We've gone through this before with a variety of tech and mediums.

I would jump for joy hoping that Sonic won't crossover with Mario from now on, but I think that would be beating a dead horse.

As disappointed as I am to see these pad/phone games replacing regular handhelds, I am not surprised. Games for 3DS and PSV are much too high in price and even DS games still being sold in stores are too pricey. If they were in the $25-30 range then that would be acceptable, but to ask for $40 or more is too much.
