Looney Tunes Movie Spin-Off

Post by ARNie »

This day can't get any worse...

The Warner Bros. Looney Tunes-based feature film “Acme” looks to be gaining speed, as the studio has set “X-Men: First Class” scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz to pen the script. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, helmers of “Crazy Stupid Love” and the upcoming “Focus,” are in early talks to direct.

Dan Lin and Roy Lee are producing with Steve Carrell attached to star.

Plot details are still unknown. It is also unknown whether the project would be a hybrid film with a mix of live-action and animation. Chantal Nong and Jon Gonda will oversee for the studio.

Warners has had mixed results with similar ideas in the past. The 2003 pic “Looney Tunes: Back in Action” with Brendan Fraser bombed, but 1996’s “Space Jam” with Michael Jordan scored.

After the success of “The Lego Movie,” which Lin produced, the studio is looking to fill the pipeline with animated properties that appeal to several demographics. Warner Bros. recently announced plans to reboot “The Flintstones” with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay exec producing.

I've been saying for years now that a feature length version of the 90s short "Carrotblanca" would be a big score.

But just say "no" to animation/live action mix.
Catwoman: Think you can handle me?
Batman: I've got handcuffs.
Catwoman: Ooh.
