Ant-Man Movie loses director

Post by ARNie »

And that leaked preview looked promising...

Edgar Wright has left the Marvel Universe.

The “Cornetto Trilogy” and “Scott Pilgrim” director and the Disney-owned Marvel Studios announced in a joint statement that he has left the big screen adaptation of “Ant-Man,” which stars Paul Rudd.

“Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film,” a statement read. “The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.”

The film — which also features Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Douglas, and Michael Peña — is part of the next phase of Marvel films, which includes this summer's “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

Wright has serious fanboy credentials from his work with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (“Spaced,” “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz” and “The World's End”) as well as his work as the director of graphic novel adaptation “Scott Pilgrim.”

Rarely do I feel this but it makes me feel "What the hell?" My roommate even got us the Ant-Man volume 1 essentials that contain all the old Tales to Astonish issues with Pym in it to prepare for this movie.
