Beware The Batman: Facing Cancelation?
I suppose this is what happens when you try to force continuity down the throat and convince everybody that Robin wasn't the Dark Knight's first sidekick...and in The Batman's case, that Batgirl wasn't the Dark Knight's first sidekick either, though that's more easier to believe...
How can a Batman cartoon fail? The Caped Crusader -- the Dark Knight Detective! -- is surely among the most beloved (if not the most beloved) of all superhero characters. And yet here we are, watching as his newest animated incarnation, Beware the Batman, faces an uncertain fate.
As IGN’s own Eric Goldman reported yesterday, Cartoon Network abruptly pulled the animated series from its schedule this week with no explanation or announcement. A new episode had been scheduled to air (after a normal three-week break of reruns) on Saturday during the DC Nation block of programming, but now not only is that not happening, but Beware won’t even get a repeat in its regular slot. (Two episodes of Teen Titans Go! will run in the block instead of the usual Beware/TTG! pairing.)
Now, the reason this is so unsettling to fans is that it was just about a year ago that a similar thing happened to the shows that used to represent DC Nation: Young Justice and the Green Lantern animated series. They were pulled, the network didn’t give a reason, and then months later they quietly had their remaining episodes burned off. Some fans call it the “Great Animated Superhero Purge of 2013.” I call it “How to Alienate Your Audience and Not Communicate With Them in the Golden Age of Fan/Creator Social Media and Interaction.”
And I was just saying in my review of the last Beware the Batman episode to air that it seemed a bit cruel that DC Nation still uses Young Justice interstitials during the programming block. I mean, people are still complaining about that show’s fate… But it seems to speak to a certain tone-deafness regarding how Cartoon Network relates to the fans of these shows.
Now that said, even though we don’t have an official reason for what has happened to Beware, we can take a pretty good guess. And out of fairness to CN, it probably comes down to numbers at least in part: Beware the Batman’s ratings lag behind not only Teen Titans Go! but also the previous animated Caped Crusader series that ran on the channel, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. So why can’t Beware attract a Teen Titans Go!-sized audience? I mean, this is a Batman show for crying out loud!

Starting to remember back when Green Lantern and Young Justice got canned, they did use the 'the shows weren't selling enough toys' excuse, though just like when other shows didn't fall into this merchandising pigeonhole the sillier Teen Titans Go! ends up being an exception to that rule.

Thought Magpie's design was nice, she didn't look like Byrne's original 'Looks too old to be dressing like that' version...Anyway, how does this make you feel?

This block is just comical when it comes to this sort of thing. It's like kid with a shiny ball. It can't be bothered to stay focused on any one thing.

Just proves my fucking point, DC hates their fans.

Anyway, why do they hate us so much? did we do something wrong to them? and what about their long-time fans? don't THEY deserve something from the old DC universe to read?

CN just loves CRAP! Straight up thats what it is. Half expect seeing Suck Time and crappy Show in that slot sooner than later. Thank goodness for Nick with TMNT, Rabbids, and MvA. Yes I do watch Rabbids cause unlike current CN shows its actually funny and night mind numbingly annoying as hell. I won't go into annoying orange. Urrrrgh
With He-man killing that lame nu52 Superman and people happy as hell about it maybe Dipshit didio is having fakergasm.

Re: Beware The Batman: Facing Cancelation?
Considering that I don't care a bit for this show, I'm not at all saddened by news of possible cancellation.
Re: Beware The Batman: Facing Cancelation?
I think the concern lies more with the pattern rather than the content of the latest victim. It's getting to be a chore to invest in anything if it's just gonna be gone in less than 2 seasons with no real send off.

Re: Beware The Batman: Facing Cancelation?
Except DC comics and Dan Didio have absolutely no say in what goes on at Cartoon Network. DC Comics doesn't get to dictate CN's programming, and indeed, one of their shows being cancelled isn't in DC's best interest.bondagefan14 wrote:Just proves my fucking point, DC hates their fans.

Re: Beware The Batman: Facing Cancelation?
Why couldn't Beware The Batman just have some of the major Bat Rouges, like we seen with the Ra's cameo? I did like some of the villains they had on the show, but just have a hint of maybe Joker like in Batman Begins. Speaking of Batman, I heard that the man who does Chucky was suppose to be the Joker than Nicolson in the first Batman movie. Maybe Brad Doruff could do Joker on Beware, if the show get a season 2.
I don't like Katana for reasons like she's no Robin/Nightwing.
This Batman series isn't no B:TAS or The Batman Strikes due to that fact Batman won't work in CGI. WB needs to go back to hand drawn animation with the DC universe, like with YJ and the DCAM.

I don't watch TV, for reasons like this. The majority of programming just isn't worth it (that and a good deal of it gets to the internet anyway). Of course, outlets like Netflix are becoming just as full as crap as TV is, so eh, what can you do?

Re: Beware The Batman: Facing Cancelation?
Do what I do and get into anime and tokusatsu aka stuff that will not up and cancel because in Japan TV studios pay channels for 12 to 13 slots at a time. Only exceptions I can think of are the original Tekkaman, Tobikage, Great Dangaioh, and Pilot Candidate. That is why aside from stuff on Comedy Central I barely watch American TV these days, anything can just be up and cancelled at any time, even only a few episodes in. Reminds me of this:

I was so pissed off at that Spider-Man one when I was younger.

as a long time fan I am enjoying the new52. Yes the DC Nation block is fucked up, but not all DC fans feel like the company hates them.

I really just wondered if some fans are just spoiled.
