Like him or not, you can't deny the influence he had, or the careers he launched:
For TV viewers of a certain age, the shows produced by Lou Scheimer’s Filmation evoke fond nostalgia and happy Saturday morning memories. Scheimer, co-founder of the notorious American animation studio Filmation, passed away yesterday, just two days before his 85th birthday. The news comes from ToonSeum’s Facebook page. The cause and location of death remains unknown at this time.

Heard all over facebook in filmation fandom pages. A sad day as just got back into the series and have been watching two every Saturday on METV.

I'm both a little surprised, and a little sad to hear of Scheimer's passing. I wasn't the biggest Filmation fan, but I definitely liked some of their stuff from the 80s (BraveStarr is probably my favorite). A shame qubo's rights to air their shows on their channel ran out recently.
