Know all about this. Sounds like the so-called "moral guardians" are trying to do an end run using Google as their tool.
Personally, I think this is this most despicable & cowardly act I have ever seen perpetrated on the Net.
They didn't have the guts to reveal themselves; just letting Google do all of their dirty work for them.

In the UK where I live, there's been huge political pressure to filter out porn at the ISP level.
I do wonder where all this is going end.

Re: Blog-Culling on July 30
It won't...even if they got rid of all the porn in the world tomrrow, they'd just find something else to be offended by,'like violent video games, gory horror flicks, rock and pop music, scientific equipment...all of course to protect the "children". (And just how many of them actually have children, anyhow?)Kayjay wrote:In the UK where I live, there's been huge political pressure to filter out porn at the ISP level.

All I think about is poor Justin Beiber and all the porn he loves so much. Fucking little prick just made numero uno on the bad tippers list too.
This does stink since know a lot of devartists use blogs for the work of theirs that devart removes. (Yet alot of sick stuff still remains)

One of these days you'll have to be rich to afford to post porn on the internet. Just like with everything else fun.

Blogger is a free service. They can deny that service to who ever they want for whatever reason. It's why I opened this board under my own web space with phpBB.
Re: Blog-Culling on July 30
Well yeah, I'm just saying that it'll be incredibly hard to get sponsors in the future with this kind of thing and it looks like the free sites might start purging it.

Re: Blog-Culling on July 30
I did some digging and one of the reasons for this, is the sudden invasion of Japanese porn blogs, most of which switched over from FC2 after getting banned on that server. If you've ever surfed the Hentai blog world, none of it would be allowed in the U.S. I'd like to say it's Google trying to cover their arse and avoid a total shutdown but then, look what they allow on any given search. Also, there's no money going into their corporate cubicle pockets from ads not covered under Adsense. I recently took down one of my "mature" gates on Blogger but I'll probably put it back up. The only reason I have them up is akin to what I had on DeviantART; the materiel could be considered "suggestive" only. There's no porn, ads or otherwise. I have now and always have run, ad-free blogs. That goes as well for the links.
Methinks there may be a clash over the 1st Amendment in the very near future over this. It happened on Word Press a few years ago.
As for the other reasons like violent games or movies, you can dawdle on this George Carlin quote: "I'd rather have my kids watching a movie where two people are making love, rather than killing each other."

Sounds reasonable - my blog is there for updates and other things, and I don't allow advertising on it. So far, fingers crossed, I haven't receieved a warning notice...
It's the quiet, unobvious ones that you have to watch.

Re: Blog-Culling on July 30
okay i got this weird image of two people screaming porn at the top of their lungs. one is crying porn in a state of rage, like someone doing the big NOOO in a movie, the other is creaming porn as if it was a battle cry.
