It looks pretty good to me but I won't be 100% sure till I see an episode or two, all the batman cartoon series I've seen never really was a let down also to include the cartoon movies.

What? No Joker or familiar Rogues?

CN cancelled YJ for this? There isn't going to be a Robin or Batgirl in this show from what I heard. I'll watch it, but if it doesn't pull up like B: TAS I quit watching this show.

...No? This had nothing to do with YJ getting cancelled. According to Bruce Timm himself, YJ got axed because the toys didn't sell well enough.

Toys not selling is BS. Way Mattel handled them is the prob on toys i bought some. Though only 6" and well kept the rooftop base with Robin. Barely saw others and then when did wasn't fan wanted also DC partly to blame as well. nu52 anyone?

I will check it out but knowing Pyg is in it and wil be majorly toned down (guy was creeeeeepy) has me worried. Last saw Magpie she was dead.

I suppose it helps finding the article to support such a claim about low toy sales, and some of the double-standards that come with it...

This past weekend at the Emerald City Comic Con Bruce Timm talked a little bit about the cancellation of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and The Bleeding Cool got the inside scoop. Timm was as disappointed with Cartoon Network's decision as anyone else, calling the show one of the best things he'd ever worked on. Given Timm's pedigree that says a lot about what he thinks of the show. Some of Timm's comments cement the rumors many of us have held for some time, that the fate of the show had little to do with ratings and everything to do with merchandising.

What seems to have doomed the show is the poor performance of the Green Lantern movie product line which led to major retailers to balk at the notion of a toy line based on the animated series, money which would have helped to offset the price tag associated with doing a CG series. While there were three statues aimed at adult collectors, the lack of merchandising aimed at the target demographic doomed the show from the start, and no amount of iTunes or DVD sales carries the weight that toy sales do to executives.

In the case of Young Justice there was indeed a toy line, but it was poorly received by viewers of the show and the lack of sales appeared to the network as a vote of no confidence in the show. Ironically there are other shows on Cartoon Network that have no toy lines to support them and have lower ratings than either DC Comics property, so apparently merchandising rules apply to some shows more than others.

hmm, not quite as bad as i was expecting, that little clip, but will have to see.

and abouty the toy decision. it is proof that the people who run cartoonnetwork, are total idiots. poorly received? how about they think of something OTHER than toy sales as proof? compeltely stupid and more than likely to their own detriment.

I personally think its a MUCH better move to not have Joker and the other rogues. We've had several version of animated Batman shows in the past 10 years and its better to try something different and new with the property. It's why I appreciated Brave and the Bold. The tone of this show doesn't look all that new for Batman so to mix it up with Katana (is she still the sidekick in this one?) and new rogues is a good idea. I think an over-arching plot with Anarchy sounds much more interesting than tossing more stand-alone Joker episodes up.

The animation will take some getting used to, just like it did with The Batman. The key will be the writing and the portrayal of the lead. The writing in B:TAS was excellent. The writing in the first two seasons of The Batman was terrible; the last two acceptable. If it's intelligent, I'll watch. If not, I won't.
Catwoman: Think you can handle me?
Batman: I've got handcuffs.
Catwoman: Ooh.
