Such a shame, I was always fond of Jason and the Argonauts.
The Harryhausen family regret to announce the death of Ray Harryhausen, Visual Effects pioneer and stop-motion model animator. He was a multi-award winner which includes a special Oscar and BAFTA. Ray’s influence on today’s film makers was enormous, with luminaries; Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Peter Jackson, George Lucas, John Landis and the UK’s own Nick Park have cited Harryhausen as being the man whose work inspired their own creations.

That's indeed very sad, but 93 is a good age. Rest in peace dear Ray. You were one of the best artists of our century. Such a great man!!!

Ray Harryhausen was one of my heroes. I got my love of special effects watching his movies, and my love of model making. When I was younger I wanted to grow up to be him. I've turned to other things, but never lost my admiration for his work. Gone, but never forgotten.

What a loss, but he had a long life.
Remember the Skeletons in "Jason and the Argonauts"? Just one awesome example of what he could do!!!
