Legend of Korra: THE MOVIE?..

Post by ARNie »

...So as long as M. Night Shyamalan is nowhere near this if it's given a go...

Big news, Avatar fans! Thanks to Paramount Animation, we may soon be getting a Legend of Korra movie.

Paramount has remained pretty quiet since the studio's animation division was launched last summer, announcing little else than a sequel to The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. However, now that DreamWorks is in talks to move to another studio, Paramount has recently ramped up its animation plans by hiring seven writers to tackle projects, some of which Mary Parent and J.J. Abrams will oversee. What's more, Paramount chief Brad Grey has been tasked with hitting up its sister division Nickelodeon for animated properties including The Legend of Korra, Dora the Explorer and Monkey Quest.

According to Variety, Paramount has stated that they want to keep budgets around $100 million or less, similar to features like Despicable Me and the latest installment of Ice Age.

Of course, the most exciting prospect here for many of us is a Korra movie, which would mark Nick's second attempt at bringing its Avatar franchise to the big screen. M. Night Shyamalan's live-action film The Last Airbender was widely disdained by critics and fans alike, so a shift towards animated features that continue the TV series makes sense.

Just so long as they don't make another "Spongebob Squarepants" movie, I'm OK on this.

In fact, I would think a "TUFF Puppy" flick would be perfect for a big-screen treatment, so long as they have the right kind of story for it.

hmmmm, now that would be of itnerest. so long as it is a part of korra's advantures and not a spin off, and that bastard shymalon keeps his brainless little thoughts away from it, i am quite excited. could be something like of a what happened between this seasona nd the next, or maybe somethign that leads to the third.

avatar team, i beg thee, help them make this movie and make it GREAT!

I liked the Spongebob movie. O_o
Also I'm stoked for this. If ever there was a need for more traditionally animated movies its now. Korra certainly is certainly a wonderful source to start from.

No No No No NO! remember what happened with "The Last Airbender" Movie, it received negative reception, which is why I'm highly doubtful of a Legend of Korra movie.

Are people missing the ANIMATED part of this whole thing? If an animated movie is made then the same team that does the show will be involved... Why is this bad? Please tell me.

the incredibly trauma caused by Shamalon. they should have known better when he couldn't get the damn movie called Avatar the last airbender.

personally i am optimistic. i hope it is connected to the story. maybe a side story, somethign that happens in the six months between season 1 and season 2, or depending on when it is shown, set between two and three...... though a part of me wonders. if they had a murder/suicide on the show itself, what could they get away with in the movie? dun dun dun!!!

this kinda reminds me of a recent conversation i had. some guys criticize, including proffessional critics, the ending when korra regained her powers and learned energy bending........ Personally i did nto see what they mean. i still don't, though i get why the think that. it relied pretty heavily on fan knowhow. more casual fans and people who did not watch the first season were thrown for a loop there, as they did not understand the mythos well enough nor the nature of the abilities. be actually very confusing to those who did not realize that the reason korra did not directly meet aang till then was because he spiritual connection was weak. so it was actually very cleverly made. though personalyl i think critics should look up on the mythos before they say it is deus ex machina.
