Superheroine webcomic

I remember a scene, quite a elaborate one, from a superhero girl webcomic (nothing to do with DC). I happen to have forgotten the name. But I remember some scant details:
1. The Girls (they are a team but I can remember their numbers) are in some sort of higher education (College or University).
2. The girls get introduced to some scientist who accidentally, i think, exposes them to radiation that causes them to get superpowers.
3. Can't remember much. But the scene where the girls get some sort of treatment (drain their powers by the villian), they are with a foe that joined forces with them for some reason.
4. The scientist mentioned earlier dies, and the lead still loves him (she had a crush that became a one-sided romance, I'm not sure)
