They assume those detectives' identities to infiltrate some place(I don't actually read it, so sorry for being vague.) and they were getting them out of the way. I assume they didn't die from the fall since, like you said, there wouldn't be much point in restraining them first.

Read all the available chapters. Turns out, in their world everyone has resurrective immortality and can only die of old age. Thank goodness for that. Sure, it doesn't make what they did any less brutal, but at least you know they'll live through the experience.

That makes sense. I was confused when someone posted a scene from that manga a couple of weeks back because some poor woman got tied up and tortured with a sword and then was mysteriously fine a few panels later. I thought it was just a lazy artist at first.

You don't know the half of it. They're so desensitized of death that they kill themselves just so they can immediately get better from minor inconveniences like colds and burns. Mundane utility much?
