Amazing Spider-Man #700: THE END...

Post by ARNie »

Marvel's Universe is now looking more like DC's Multiverse, though I suspect that hasn't been new for quite some time...

Marvel has given their solicitations for December over to CBR and they've hidden a surprise in there for Spider-Man fans that they might not take so well.

The Amazing Spider-Man will be ending with its 700th issue this December. The comic will be 104 pages, written by Dan Slott with art by Humberto Ramos. There will also be five varient covers for the comic - a 50th Anniversary varient, Wraparound cover, Olivier Coipel Cover, and a Joe Quesada cover

There's no official word from Marvel, but this puts the comic on the path to be rebooted for their Marvel NOW! initiative.

It's all misunderstanding and hoax anyway. The calendar bullshit? Cycles happen every 5000 years and humanity has been around for longer than that. Collision with a celestial object? NASA would have picked up anything by now.

It's probably more to do with the fact that reboots are the in-thing now. Admittedly, DC's been forced into it because of the legal rights over Superman, so they were allowed a fresh take on everything. This results in a big shake up, and it draws attention. Though, Marvel already did this with their Ultimate universe...

Really this is a fallacy, the New 52 was not inspired by the legal issues over Superman. If DC was to lose the rights to the aspects of the character created by Siegel and Shuster it would make the character in the new 52, or practically any recognizable version, unusable. Everything that would be in dispute with the heirs of Siegel are still a part of the new Superman (who if anything is a more retro version of the character closer to the version that his creators originally envisioned).

As far as Spider-man, this isn't the first time Amazing was rebooted, so color me underwhelmed.

it jsut seems a vast coincidence that they are ending the series This year, with all of the apocalypse meme and bullshit going on. like it was a Vast coincidence they started New 52 this year as well. people are paying attention to the lie that is 2012, despite the hateful little joke behind it, and media are using references of apocalypses, doomsday, new beginnings and endings all over the chart.

fuck, even Scooby Doo mystery inc is making a 2012 reference for fuck's sake.

So you're just arbitrarily saying that they're doing this reboot because of the 2012 bullshit, without any evidence or insight into that assumption? The FUCK are you talking about? NO ONE said anything about the 2012 doomsday nonsense until YOU said it. I am baffled by your outrage at something that only YOU seem to have attributed. o__o

I'm pretty sure spidey's being rebooted because of they want to try to boost sales. Thats the main reasons any comic book company reboots their comics, and what a better time to do it than on spiderman's 700th issue.
Also, the New 52 started last year, not this year.

........sigh, okay maybe i am jumping the gun..... by a few miles. still you have to admit, there has been a Lot of endings, beginnings, and so on going on this year. a hell of a lot of them. series based on end of the world scenarios, and a lot of series ending and reboots going on. hell like i said scooby doo made a reference to one of those braindead doomsday scenarios that got shoehorned into the twenty twelve thing, and and reswident evil has gone full doomsday on our asses. originally the whole epidemic was isolated to one area, but now it is all over the place.
then there is Revolution, a series entirely based on a doomsday event, though one that is considerably more unique than most i have heard of before; mysterious global power outage.

a lot of coincidences...... or maybe i am just acting like one of those guys who think the 2012 is real, i don't know. i guess so much of this kinda thing is going on that it is hard to tell whether or not somethign was inspired by the meme or not. pretty sure legend of korra was not inspired by it though.

it did, really? i could have sworn it started april....... okay, 52 aside, you gotta admit a Lot of stuff related to doomsdays, new beginnings, and all that stuff that people claim will happen this year seems to be happening in entertainment these days. they have an entire series based on a doomsday event dude. its hard to tell if it is airs this year on purpose or it is a coincidence. i know for a fact that the plot of scooby doo mystery inc is Totally referencing 2012, or at least a suposed things that was shoed horned into the apocalypse.

I get what you're saying. It does feel like the media is being overloaded with doomsday crap. We'll just have to wait after december 21st for it all to cool down. Than something else will be shoved down our throats for a while.

Yes Scooby Doo is directly referencing the Nibiru Doomsday plot. But that's the point of Scooby Doo (Mystery Inc especially) is to take super natural legends and bend them to the plans of costumed villains like the vampires and warewolves. It's no different than that really. And sometimes they twist some things into being true (in the SD universe at least) like Zombie Island and the Salem Witch movies. It's yet to be revealed if the Niburu legend in true in Mystery Inc or just an over hanging threat from the Planespheric Disk to hide other secrets.

ha,true, true, though my only problem with that is that nibiru is a god, not a planet, in fact is never referenced as a planet in the book it is first mentioned in. still, who knows? though if those dmeon rabbit douches from the first movie apppear i am fucking somethign up.
i am thinking the nibiru thing means somethign since an actual fucking ghost told them so.

............ what the fuck were they referencing with that clown sociopath in the firswt part of the second season? on second thought, i do not want to know.
