Japan does seem to like the concept of a store/bank being robbed and the main cast joining or saving the bound and gagged staff. Conan and Fairy Tail did it too, among several others. Ninjala also did this trope in a previous episode.

I'm guessing the series is based on the game on the Switch similar to the Pokémon anime which is also based on the games.
