Jigoku Sensei Nube Remake Announced
youtu.be/aHqDj3MPD6I
I remember the manga had a bunch of tie-ups involving the twintail girl and the short-haired girl (forgot their names).
Also some girls get tied up when being exorcised.
I don't remember if anyone watched the original 90's anime series for DID.
Re: Jigoku Sensei Nube Remake Announced
This era of PG-fied remakes of classical anime series is really starting to irritate me.

On the bright side, the remakes have more focus than when they were being broadcast the same time as the manga being published.
As you know, anime episodes tend to catch up fast to the manga, resulting in the animation studio padding the series with filler content, so that the original source material has more time to come up with fresh content.
This would result in episodes that get straight to the point.
And in some cases, maybe cleverly stick to the manga while appealing to the censorship.
Example: In the original Dragon Quest Dai manga, Hyunckel slaps Maam in the dungeon.
But in the 90's anime adaptation, Hyunckel held back and walks away.
In the remake, the slap is done but off-camera, with Maam's cheek clearly bruised.
However, for me, being faithful to the comic is not always good.
In the original Rurouni Kenshin anime, they redid the chapter where Sanosuke wanted to bomb the government center.
They changed it so that Kenshin and Sanosuke had a rematch and the battle resulted in Tsukioka giving up on his anti-government crusade.
The remake altered it to be more "faithful" to the manga, so the rematch never happened.
There are pros and cons to these remakes.

I get your point but frankly I feel like these remakes are nothing more than cynical cashcow to try and hide the fact that the last few years have been nothing but creative bankruptcy, whether we are speaking from the US or Japan.Daikinbakuju wrote: ↑July 21st, 2024, 4:32 pm On the bright side, the remakes have more focus than when they were being broadcast the same time as the manga being published.

What really annoys me tho is the PG-fication. I feel like these remakes will surpass the more "audacious" original adaptation and make it fall sideways. And I get that the Miyazaki murders and similar scandals made Japanese television more strict compared to the 80s, but then just move to streaming goddammit.

Re: Jigoku Sensei Nube Remake Announced
Hard disagreement.
If by "last few years" mean since 2020's, we're getting a lot of good animation, even if we're only counting the ones from Japan.
I wouldn't call the likes of BNA, Jujutsu Kaisen, To Your Eternity, 86, Orbital Children, Lycoris Recoil and Witch From Mercury "nothing but creative bankruptcy".
And I'm even trying not to include any isekai series, even if they're high quality.
There are also more I still have yet to watch, like Great Pretender, Super Crooks and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Neither remakes nor its supposed "PG-fication" stop good shows from being created.
Spoiler scene from Gundam: Witch From Mercury, just to show you that blood and gore is still on the menu:

I don't know, I haven't been following modern anime much recently but I feel like the shows you have mentioned, while good and everything, are a diamond in the rough in a world packed of shitty isekai and forgettable seasonal shows.
As for "PG-fication", I know that Japanese anime doesn't shy away from blood, gore, innuendo and partial nudity even today but I feel like that if you have to remake a show that had originally nipples in it then you have to go the whole route with it, even if it means going streaming-only.

Re: Jigoku Sensei Nube Remake Announced
Honestly, it's still pretty random.
Time Patrol Bon on Netflix has blood, violence and in a later episode, exposed breasts (with nipples), due to the "historical accuracy" of the era the protagonists time travels to.
It's based on a manga but it still counts as a "remake", since there's an earlier adaptation from 1989, although in a feature-length format.
I wouldn't even call these "diamond in the rough", since these titles pop up as recommendations whether you're on the Netflix app or looking for videos on YouTube.

I've checked and that is an ONA, ie. it skipped television and went right to Netflix. I don't know how this one will unfold but Ranma's remake is to be first aired on Nippon TV and then go to Netflix.Daikinbakuju wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2024, 9:02 pm Honestly, it's still pretty random.

Then again, Nippon TV had no problems airing the Woman Called Fujiko Mine anime series with Fujiko showing her goods so I dunno.
