Netflix doing Ranma 1/2?
So apparently Netflix is doing an Ranma 1/2 adaptation. I wonder how far they’ll go for adaptation and if we’ll see the Akane DID Scenes. I’m excited either way

The thing I'm most looking forward is a remake of that episode where Akane took a love pill and will fall in love with the first one she sees and wears a blindfold for part of it.
I hope they remake it to extend the blindfold segments.

Just hope they keep their woke bullshit out of it. Ranma is a genderbender and one of the more popular ones with both a male and female side. I'd like to see a full treatment of female Ranma, but I doubt that will happen. Also hope they don't fail like the OVA did.

The adaptation is being handled by Mappa, not Netflix. According to rumors, there will be more than 50 episodes, but there will be no nudity, as in the original. As for DID, I’ll be hopeful, but it all depends on which chapters are being adapted.
Re: Netflix doing Ranma 1/2?
MAPPA is the animation studio, as far as I can understand it's Netflix producing the series.
Netflix's Bastard! featured nippleless nudity, so I think it is not a given that nudity will be removed. IMHO, considering how integral it is to the story, it will be barely covered by strategically placed objects or fog. One episode of the UY remake had Asuka naked with her boobs covered by long strands of hair.
As for DiD, we will have to wait and see.

Regarding nudity, it seems to me that it depends on the studio, and not on netflix, because in the same Dungeon Meshi the harpies had nipples, but it was Trigger studio, not MappaDrProton wrote: ↑July 18th, 2024, 9:13 pm Netflix's Bastard! featured nippleless nudity, so I think it is not a given that nudity will be removed. So, there will be no more female Ranma fanservice then? There was a ton of that in the manga and the original anime.hollowalex wrote: ↑July 18th, 2024, 8:59 pm The adaptation is being handled by Mappa, not Netflix. Hoping that they finally animate Ranma's mother's scene that was in the manga.

Re: Netflix doing Ranma 1/2?
Since the manga is long finished, meaning there's no need for fillers to give room for the manga to be written.
That would mean there will be less episodes and the series will be more compacted and follow the manga more closely.
That might also mean story arcs will be shorter and not lengthened unnecessarily, meaning taking less time to get to the DID.
But if there are any filler DID, it might be gone (I don't know if there are any).

I'd say we will have to wait for October to see how that plays out. I think it's more probably that they do it in a way that you can't see any nipples.Nephenthal wrote: ↑July 19th, 2024, 6:05 pm So, there will be no more female Ranma fanservice then? Wait, Nodoka had a DiD scene in the manga?

Yup, somewhere in the 200s if I remember correctly in the manga. Ieon posted the scene before.DrProton wrote: ↑July 19th, 2024, 10:58 pmI'd say we will have to wait for October to see how that plays out. Re: Netflix doing Ranma 1/2?
I can’t remember the Nodoka scene, to be fair I haven’t read the manga in probably 15 years so my memory is fuzzy.
50 episodes sounds promising, i just wonder what they’ll adapt. I believe the first Akane DiD scene happens around Volume 4, plus it’s a integral Mousse plot, so very likely to be adapted.

Filler being removed does have a few disadvantages. I recall Kenshin missed out on a (GID) full treatment scene because the new anime didn't have to bother with the filler anymore.
