Hey guys, I just made an interesting find and I thought I'd post this here now so I don't forget about it. Did you guys ever know there was a series of TMNT mangas published in Japan that adapted stories from the original cartoon in a very cutesy, chibi art style? Yep, there was! The other day I happened to run across some images on the web by luck that confirm this and even found part of one April scene from these mangas already to boot!
Recognize the plant monster on this cover?: http://www.flickr.com/photos/terrible2z ... otostream/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Volume 5)
Yeah, it's that alien plant thing from "It Came From Beneath the Sewers"! Luckily, the Flickr user who had this one in his collection also had some interior scans from that issue, and there's even a page with cute chibi April b&g! Sadly, there's only 1 panel of April in full treatment on that page, and it seems he skipped over scanning pages 82-83 and 86-89, and April appears to be free of her gag and bonds by page 90-91. So more panels of her b&g could be missing, but we'll probably have to find them elsewhere. But at least we know there's something in this and that's better than nothing!
Here's the one page of interest for now though:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/terrible2z ... otostream/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (April chair-tied and gagged)
And here's a cover scan of the 1st volume of this manga:

I would also really like to find this one because it adapts the "Turtle Tracks" episode along with "Enter the Shredder." We all know that April gets a DiD scene in that first story don't we? Haven't seen any relevant interior scans of this one yet but they may be out there somewhere if we keep looking!
There were supposedly 15 volumes of this original "Mutant Turtles" series of manga that adapted stories from the cartoon with 2 per book, for a total of 30 adpated episodes. I don't know what all the stories were that were adapted (crossing my fingers and praying that "Enter the Rat King" made it ) but I really hope the issues covering stories which we know have DiD in the cartoon can be found somewhere. I would love to see manga adaptations of all those April b&g scenes, wouldn't you?
Now aside from that first "Mutant Turtles" series, there were also some completely original Turtles mangas made in Japan.
I happened across this site (http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2009/05/tmnt-manga.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) in researching the first series and guess what? They actually have links to download some of these! They have "Mutant Turtles Gaiden" and "Super Turtles."
I have no idea if either of these has any DiD stuff but it might be worth checking them out!
And on that same site I found this very informative article (http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2010/03/ ... japan.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) about the history of TMNT in Japan that you guys might want to read. I knew the Turtles had been popular over there but I never realized just quite how much. It sounds like they were every bit as huge there as anywhere else. There's some pretty funny facts in that article covering everything from the muddled airing situation and 3 different dubbings of the original cartoon to the mangas and movies and other Turtles merchandise that was released over there. 'Tis a fun read.
Who knows how many other April scenes might lurk out there in stuff that was exclusive to the Land of the Rising Sun?

It is, isn't it!? Chibi April is so cute! I just wish we had the whole scene already. There's got to be a few more panels besides just that one with 6 pages missing. But with enough diligence I think we can find it!That's adorable!
Oh, and I just stumbled across a Japanese page with pics of the covers of all 15 issues of that first manga series here: http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~h-kazu/dynami ... urtles.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Aaaand what's more is I think we just might be in luck for "Enter the Rat King" being amongst the stories in one of these. I think it may be in #13. Why do I say that? Well for one, I can read phonetic japanese, and it sure looks like the text in that orange space on the cover of #13 says something about "Rat King." I see "Kingu" there at least.
More importantly though, take a look at the enlarged image of this collection of the spines on all 15 mangas from the series:
http://mangaclub.ocnk.net/data/mangaclu ... 3cc149.JPG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Does that not appear to be the Rat King's face on the side of #13? I know that's him. There's probably a good reason he's on the spine for that one. And when you consider that the Rat King didn't appear in a heck of a lot of episodes, and most of these reproduced stories seem to be from the early seasons of the show, it would seem highly unlikely that they'd pick a different story with him. After all, "Enter the Rat King" was his origin story that introduced him in the cartoon, so unless that was already included in an earlier volume, it would be odd for them to throw another character into the manga that kids might not have seen before without giving some explanation for who he was. So I can't confirm it, but I strongly suspect that issue #13 has that story.
Now if only "Burne's Blues" and "April's Fool" got mangafied as well...

Awesome as always when you post something. April is my all time favourite damsel and it's really nice to see something undiscovered.

found the first volume online (1 tie up-no gag) if someone here wants to contact the guys who translated this maybe they could help find the others or where they could be purchased. (these mangas don't strictly follow the plots from the show so no telling how many alternate DID scenes might in these)
