Once again, bondage scenes and writer Kelly Thompson seem to go together. Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel has been kidnapped by a magical council led by Agatha Harkness which has put her on trial for stuff she did back in issue #30 (tricking Amora the Enchantress' future son, Ove, into drinking a potion that removed his magical powers). Picking up from last issue's cliffhanger, Carol finds herself bound to a chair by magical chains and manacles. Scarlet Witch is acting as Carol's advocate.

Off the top of my head this is at least the third or fourth issue of the run in which Carol has been magically manacled. Thompson doesn't let her power level allow her to escape bondage forever.
