A TV animation of Higurashi/When They Cry remake has been announced for later this year.

We might get HD, remade version of all the captivity and tie-up scenes through the series, assuming there are enough episodes to cover them.
Some have gory bad ends but then the scene where an entire classroom is tied up with skipping rope is the one I look forward most.

All the characters have been redesigned by Akio Watanabe, the character designer for all the "Monogatari" series (Bakemonogatari, etc.).

Never seen a monogatari entry, but with the exception of Outbreak I didn't care for When They Cry.
