MR. AND MRS. X #12

This week saw the final issue of MR. & MRS. X. In typical fashion, Kelly Thompson managed to include some bondage scenes for the last hurrah. There is a gag, but it's in a flashback panel. But, both heroes and villains get some version of the treatment!

Continuing from issue 11, Rogue and Gambit have been captured by Candra, the immortal mutant who usually rules the Assassins and Thieves' Guilds. She makes Gambit choose whether he wants to sacrifice Rogue, or his ex-wife Bella Donna (who Candra betrays), so Candra can regain her full power. This makes Gambit remember a time when Sabretooth made him a similar bargain. Fortunately, everyone escapes and no one is sacrificed.

The last time was in UNCANNY X-MEN #326 from 1995.)

For those who like CID, this series was probably a gold mine for you. Rogue and Gambit usually found themselves chained up in a third of the issues.

It made sense for the context of the story, as Candra was making Gambit choose between two loved ones, as Sabretooth did.

That said, Kelly Thompson seems to find a way to put at least a minor bondage scene in nearly everything she writes so long as she's on it long enough. Hell, even in A-Force she managed to find a way to show She-Hulk in handcuffs. Not to say every issue or every arc, but at least one arc somewhere. She even got a hands-tied-in-front in a Star Wars annual once.

I am keeping an eye on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Witches can't cast spells if gagged, and "burn at the stake" themes run through them. It's a 5 issue mini, but so was Nancy Drew.
