According to Wikipedia that it was supposed to be a Five Nights at Freddy's movie but since they can't get the rights to the named they used the Banana Splits gang instead. Way to go Hollywood you just took something that is super kid friendly and turned it into a stuff of nightmares.

Warner Bros was going to do FNAF but lost the rights after creator Scott Cawthorn saw the plot of the film. Now it's being moved to Blumhouse.

Remember when DC did those alternate Hanna-Barbera comics like the Banana Splits meeting Suicde Squad? I'm going to wait for the DVD this Summer than watch it on SyFy.

Doesn't it sound like a comedy sketch on SNL. Are the Banana Splits robots or something? Sound more like a movie they had a script and just plug them into.

They're guys in suits back in the day, but in the movie they were going to be a Five Nights At Freddy's type film with them as animatronics with rogue AI, like that new Chucky out now.
