I think the most important thing is to pick a gag that doesn't seem out of place. A lot of manips use shining silver duct tape on an anime character which makes it extremely easy to see that the gag doesn't actually belong on the picture. Just use a white tape gag or a cloth when using gags.
The facial expression is pretty important too. Don't just edit a gag on any random picture but take pics where a character already looks scared, angry or annoyed.
Going to post a few manipulations that were previously /a/ exclusives because Tumblr forced compressed things and I am scrambling to find a new site to host these. If I fail at least I have this place.
I'm so pissed off I can't even think, good thing /a/'s Fire archive saved these.
Edit: Just saved the last manipulations I felt were worth keeping! Now to download all my favorite artwork. What the fuck, tumblr.

I've been going through my video clip collection making compilation collages, and one of the scenes has one of those annoying dissappearing gag errors so decided to do something about it.
Thank you Vespei, but all I did was use what Iakithundurus found and he was kind enough to let me use them. As for KayJay, that is pretty convincing, good work.
