This doesn't sound good, I have no idea how you adapt a property like this to live action. And where will it take place? The US? I doubt an American production company will hire all actors with asian backgrounds...

I'd like to say that they would go the route of the Rurouni Kenshin film but that would be too good, woukdn't it?

I wasn't aware of that adaption, I don't see it being very successful in the United States. Maybe they'll go that route but with the budget it would take to adapt Bleach I''m not sure how they'll handle it ::shrugs::

Why, WHY do they always choose to adapt an anime that is so steeped in Japanese culture and folklore and then try to make it "Americanized?" It's moronic. Just choose something that's a bit more universal, like fucking Lupin III. Jesus christ.

Can't wait for the controversy over the Spanish-named bad guys.

It's not just the cultural stuff, even if they set it in Japan, and hired all Asian American actors to do it in English I'd still have a problem with it. It's too huge and convoluted a story, with way too many characters, to make into films. I don't even know how much they'd try and cram into the first film. If people who liked Harry Potter thought those films were truncated wait for this. I think something like Fullmetal Alchemist would make a better adaption, it's a western themed story and much shorter and more manageable to adapt.

There's nothing convoluted about a guy who fakes his own death to go into hiding while his followers commit subterfuge and assassination to set up a political prisoner's execution to retrieve a device that he already had a method of retrieving so he could use it to create ten high powered commanders that would die for nothing because the device is powered by the fear of one of his followers which then evolves him into a butterfly.

If they can find an actress to accurately represent Rangiku, I guarantee I'll watch it.

WB hasn't learned from 20th Century's mistake when they did the movie which will not be named... but as we all know they won't get asian actors so it's cool with me... besides Ichigo with that bleached orange hair looked very different... but then again most people in all cultures love to dye the hair to odd colors. My only problem is the story which they will do... the part where Rukia is arrested, the Los Noches arch? or worse with the whole vampire thing that everyone seems to be doing... the spirit sucking vampires... god just as long as they keep the shinigami style afterlife instead of a grim reaper with scythe... well that be cool but not correct......... then again it's an American studio after all...

Re: live Action Bleach
Anyone remember New Line's Guyver live action films? Sure they were cult and cheesy, at lease they did the Guyver right than Fox's (Censored) failed to do that got bombed by a certain Disney property at the box office. How long have we've waited for James Cameron's version of Battle Angel?
