Win 7 antispyware 2012
So I was just browsing my usual sites, like this one, and this little program pops up out of nowhere and tells me that my computer is infected. I know better than to trust it, I've seen scams like this before.
I try to close out of it like always, except this time it won't close, it doesn't even show up on the system processes window. Restarting my computer doesn't get rid of it, nor can I use system restore to reset my system to a prior date. It's very difficult to get rid of, apparently, and now I have to have someone repair my computer once again. I can't use Firefox or any of my other browsers, and these system messages keep popping up.
So now I have a geek squad dude connected to my computer to fix the problem, just like I do every year since I got this damn machine. Every six months, like clockwork.

yeah, this nasty thing has been going around lately, I got it a while back myself and reformatted once it deeply rooted itself in the comp, it's very annoying, hope you get your comp free of it soon, and good idea alerting everyone of this
Re: Win 7 antispyware 2012
Well my computer seems to be ok now, whatever that guy did seems to have worked...hopefully it doesn't come back.
I have another problem, though. My computer fan sometimes gets really noisy, I don't know exactly why it happens, maybe something is loose? It doesn't seem to affect performance as far as I know, but it is really annoying and distracting. Sometime it will go away by itself if I leave it be, or if I turn the computer off for an hour or so it will stop. It seems to be a hardware issue, not something I can fix.

I haven't had any real issues with 7, this far. The only ones I can come up with are a sound issue that has my audio output playing into my input (which I'm chalking up sound codecs being dark wizardry) and Windows Movie Maker won't preview (which I deduced to be an issue with the latest nVidia drivers and thus not the fault of Windows).cresent34 wrote:Another Windows OS released with bugs still in it.

Re: Win 7 antispyware 2012
Here's a few suggestions
1) Go get Microsoft Security Essentials
-Do a full scan while turning every other possible process off.
-When that is finished, do it again in Safe Mode
2) If the problem still remains,
-Download HiJackThis
-Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
-go to PC Pitstop's forums http://forums.pcpitstop.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
-Go to Viruses, Spyware, Adware
-Go to this topic http://forums.pcpitstop.com/index.php?/ ... read-this/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
-Post your issue and tell them exactly what your problem is. Someone will help you figure it out and how to get around it. It might take a few days.
While they can't work miracles (if it's completely broken, then it's broken), the people there are extremely knowledgeable about deep-rooted problems that a virus scan might won't easily fix. They honestly don't ask for anything more than a donation if you can spare it, and even then, no one will ask you that directly or demand that you do it. I'd personally vouch for it, as they've helped me out several times, and now I've rarely come across any serious issues if any at all.

I wouldn't believe it either, really.

Unless you're big into PC gaming or pirating, just get a MAC. They're a pain to learn, but I've been using one for nearly two years now and haven't had a single virus warning or even so much as an error pop-up. I won't defend that they can do more than Windows, but if all you want to do is browse websites and maybe draw a little, they can certainly do that.
I like cats, otherwise don't ask about my name, I already know it's not all that original.

I have a Macbook...but I need to get a Photoshop that will run with it, among other things.Kat wrote:Unless you're big into PC gaming or pirating, just get a MAC. I am just really upset right now...and I haven't been getting along so great with my family either. I hope my holiday will turn around.

Re: Win 7 antispyware 2012
I ended up using System restore to boot back my computer to an earlier state to try deal with it when I got this bitch. Now I'm finding that upon start up my computer doesn't have any icons, control panel or start options -_- ctrl/alt/del to start up the task manager so I could new task the control panel only really worked once, though I did manage to run spybot and malwarbytes during that.
Ah well. I'll deal with this sometime.

Spend a premium on the same hardware for the sake of virus protection? That's hardly a good reasoning to spend that much money. If you want to do that, you'd be better off wiping your existing hard disk and installing a flavor of Linux. The best solutions is to actually build your own machine, which is insanely easy. The problem with PC's, given the experience of the majority, is the lovely swill that manufacturers like loading onto an OEM Partition. It keeps the MSRP down given that a company is essentially paying for advertising time.Kat wrote:Unless you're big into PC gaming or pirating, just get a MAC.
