What makes good gag manipulations?

When I last posted to this discussion I used color artwork as an example. I wanted to immediately follow it up with a contrasting example - more of my manips involve black-and-white images, usually manga, than color. Well, it took me FIVE MONTHS to find an original image to accompany the manip. At least the wait was worth it, because the pair are characteristic of many manga manips: (1) It's more fun to manip a non-DID scene into a DID scene. (2) I'd rather manip a well-dressed MILF than half-naked jailbait.

A discussion in the Animation folder about gags over gags reminded me that fairly often I'll manip a group of consecutive manga pages with increasing layers of gags. On rare occasions I can do that on a single page:

Someone at the /a/ drawfag thread had a gag request for Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop and since a good head shot was posted I saved him and the drawfags some time.







Also for the first time I have done a cleave gag manipulation.... Wow these are hard when the lips aren't separated,the bloat tool can only do so much.



Remember that first sentence, a collage is supposedly in the works which originated from spit-balling on there and I know this board will like it.
