Universal Monsters Taking an Avengers Initiative Approach?

Post by ARNie »

"Dracula Untold" is more than just an adaptation of the classic Bram Stoker story. The producer Alissa Phillips reveals to HeyUGuys that the Luke Evans starrer is a part of Universal's big plan to unify fans' favorite monsters from the studio's classic films in one big assemble movie a la Marvel's "The Avengers".

"['Dracula Untold' is] part of the monster launch, the revamp, yeah," she said. "I was really excited to be a part of that. When we started out, we weren't, but then we found out that they were gonna do it. Working with Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, who are very much a part of creating 'The Mummy' [reboot] and the other ones, it's been fun to be a part of that."

Directed by Gary Shore, "Dracula Untold" is supported by Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, and Samantha Barks. It follows a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire. It's due out on October 10 in the U.S.

Dracula is expected to cross paths with Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Creature of the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and The Mummy in the cinematic world of Universal's Monsters. Noah Hawley ("Fargo") is tapped to write a script for one of the next Monster films for the studio.

Not surprised...especially given the promotional push.

Too bad the reviews are mainly negative.
Good Night and Good Luck..
