Fantastic Four movie: Powers Viewed as Disability?
I bet they're doing this because of the license stalemate between Fox and Disney...
The Fantastic Four won't be wearing costumes.
The Fantastic Four won't be referred to as the "Fantastic Four."
The cast doesn't like to read comics, but that doesn't matter as the plot has nothing to do with the comics, anyway.
Now it's learned the Fantastic Four aren't even superheroes.
Michael B. Jordan spoke with MTV revealing Josh Trank's take on Marvel's first superhero team is a bit different.
Josh’s vision is very clear and he knows exactly what he wants, and he gives us room to adapt and to play. That’s what I kind of think sets us apart, is that this is going to be grounded and unconventional.
It’s not your typical superhero film, you know, we aren’t looking at this as like, being superheroes. We’re more or less a bunch of kids that had an accident and we have disabilities now that we have to cope with, and try to find a life afterwards – try to be as normal as we can.
"Fantastic Four" has a June 19, 2015 release directed by Josh Trank starring Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, Kate Mara as Sue Storm and Toby Kebbell as Victor von Doom.

Re: Fantastic Four movie: Powers Viewed as Disability?
I'm not a big fan of this reimagination....
Re: Fantastic Four movie: Powers Viewed as Disability?
I never was much of a fantastic four fan but I've read there comics and watch there cartoons and movies, to hear about this reboot sounds more like a redont then a reboot and sounds more like crap. Yes the FF got there powers by accident while in space, they wanted to cure themselves but choose not to because they can use there gifts for the benefits of mankind and became superheroes. For the director, he wants to do this his way which most directors do but they always through in alittle comic book knowledge in it like they did in past comic book movies, this director is completely ignoring everything and going with what he wants. The actors looks okay for now but I do have a problem with one Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, since when did johnny storm become black, I'm mean no disrespect to the black community but this is wrong, johnny storm is black and his sister is white that sounds like step brother and sister, in the comics they were brother and sister not step. This just shows that the director is not listening to the comics and being an absolute moronic idiot and the movie is going to suck and go in that category of worse movies ever made, I'm going to stay with the previous 2 films that was done correctly.

This sounds less and less like Fantastic Four and more like a Chronicle fanfic with Fantastic Four characters.

On one hand this will be released very close to Avengers 2 so don't expect it to be much of a success at the box office. Plus in terms of decay I have yet to see anything that topped Return of The Living Dead 4. Yes, I like horror movies and I watch their sequels.
On the other hand this might only top RotLD4, but this might be the movie that rams a stake into the heart of the current comic book movie trend:

5 BILLION YEN. WITH A FUCKING KATANA.
Re: Fantastic Four movie: Powers Viewed as Disability?
If they're going to do that, why don't they just make it a Challengers Of The Unknown film? They've basically stripped it down to Jack Kirby's original concept.
Yeah, I know: licensing.
Yeah, I know: licensing.
Catwoman: Think you can handle me?
Batman: I've got handcuffs.
Catwoman: Ooh.

Re: Fantastic Four movie: Powers Viewed as Disability?
Yeah as 'rider' said this is just a Chronicle attempt #2. So lame...
Re: Fantastic Four movie: Powers Viewed as Disability?
seems like this whole "simplified" rebooting of characters continues to sweep yet more big media. wasn't a fan of it myself several times before when it happened.. not a fan of this now, from what it sounds like. *sigh* but it looks like we're just going to keep getting dragged along for the ride, just like before.

While the Fantastic Four origin story might be somewhat far fetched (granted, super hero origins in general necessitate contrivance to some extent), that doesn't mean they should have the right to forego their origin anyway.
If they want to make a movie about super heroes not referring to themselves as "super heroes", then fine, do that. They shouldn't go around twisting the origin of something like that and not expect fan outrage; they're the Fantastic Four, if you're going to make a movie about them, don't pretend they aren't who they say they are. As bad as the other Fantastic Four movies were (moreso the second one) at least they were honest about the material. Hollywood's just doing dumb Hollywood stuff I suppose.
