The official website for the 20th anniversary of the Sailor Moon franchise announced on Friday that there will be an advance premiere screening event for the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal anime series. The women's fashion magazine ViVi is collaborating on the June 30 event to celebrate the heroine Usagi's birthday.
The "birthday party" will feature ViVi models and "secret guests." The Zepp Diver City facility in Tokyo will host the screening of the new anime's first episode on June 30 at 7:00 p.m. However, the staff caution that the time is subject to change. Moreover, male attendees will not be allowed — unless accompanied by a female attendee.

Supposedly they do the same with Precure events. You know a company, in this instance Toei, is so rich they can just ban a demographic outright. I wonder if there are male-only events.

It's an event hosted by a women's magazine so I don't know why men would even want to go to it. And I can't really blame them after some of the awkwardness with the Brony movement.

Like dressing up in a tuxedo and throwing a rose at someone.
Catwoman: Think you can handle me?
Batman: I've got handcuffs.
Catwoman: Ooh.

Re: Sailor Moon Premier Party: No Males?
There is a clear male fanbase of this show. One that has existed since it began. So I find it MORE awkward that they'd want to alienate an entire demographic. If the exclusion was reversed the event would be labeled as sexist and archaic. It's an event hosted by a women's magazine so I don't know why men would even want to go to it. "It is all one brilliant marketing strategy. Alienate the minority fans unless they're with the majority fans, that way it forces said minority to feel left out therefore will try to go, increasing profits more than they would have. It also makes it more difficult for perverted men to infiltrate such an event unless they already have someone to keep them under control. Add the fact that Sailor Moon has romance elements, it makes sense for some women to encourage their boyfriends to comes. Three birds one stone. This has been a special report from Fox News."
