Nancy Drew Illustrations

Post by Torpedo184 »

I'm about 50% done with my massive Nancy Drew project. The project includes cover and illustration scans from my personal collection, for U.S. editions only. I have complete runs for both the regular series and the "Case Files" series. Foreign books elude me as far as interior art and I've yet to see decent cover scans. Most of the sites feature exploded thumbnail scans, which are pretty bad. I've also decided to "tag" or label the ND posts on the DPL to make them easier to find (which means I'll have to update all the older posts.) You'll either be able to do a search or find them by the "ND" in the post title, along with part of the book title (example: ND Lilac Inn.) Bonus features are illustrations from the older books (Russell Tandy art) as well as the newer ones. "The Mystery At Lilac Inn" will post to-morrow ;)

I've been thinking about something like this for some time. THere are so many lovely scenes from the books that are not illustrated anywhere. Doing illustrations for them would be fun.

I have all the notes for the 175 books in the original series, Suicide. And yes, there are quite a lot of scenes that would be fun to (attempt) to draw ;) I also though about doing a cross-list of how many times Nancy has been k.o.'d or kidnapped and how or what with. The Case Files series was even rougher and had even more DID scenes than the regular series :| I'll need another year or less to re-read all those books & compile notes :O There are 124 Case Files to read through.
