I fail to understand why they bothered going with the CG route if they were going to stick with the 2D designs. It looks okay, but why use CG at all?

3D models are easy to reuse and edit.rider28031 wrote:I fail to understand why they bothered going with the CG route if they were going to stick with the 2D designs. It looks okay, but why use CG at all?
With the exception of stock animations, 2D animation requires you to redraw for a lot of things.

Oh you know these movie makers these days, they think everything is better in CGI. But they look more like an oil paintings than CGI animated.
Re: CGI Peanuts: First screen shots..
It's still a bit bizarre given they could have gone with Flash animation in this case. It's a proven professional practice at this point. That said this looks pretty okay.

Peanuts was always viewed horizontally and I don't recall that many dynamic angles, so maybe 2D Flash could have been an option and they could totally reuse the same model over and over.Suicide wrote:It's still a bit bizarre given they could have gone with Flash animation in this case. Kinda afraid to look at it myself, though undoubtedly I'll be seeing it a lot at the movies over the next few months or so..
