DECEMBER: Literary Illustrations

Post by mariods86 »

Well, I will begin this month theme with this drawing:

Image

This one is about one of the situations related in the book "Give Yourself Goosebumps: Toy Terror: Batteries Included" by R.L.Stine. It was an interactive book (one of those books with more bad endings than good ones) and the name and gender of the main character is not specified, because it's supossed to be the own reader (altought there are more details in these books wich seems to define more a boy than a girl, but at reading these books I used to imagine a girl instead, because the main character is tied and gagged in some point ALWAYS). XD In this book there were two scenes with a DID/GID situation, but I liked this one: The main character/reader is tied with a sort of spider-web by the toys led by a little and disgusting doll called Nasty Kathy. When the main character is going to be turned into a "living toy" of her army, he/she tries to lie them saying he/she is a toy, but Kathy check it removing his/her shoes, to find out if he/she has the batteries compartment. Obviously, there is not a compartment, so she gets very angry and orders to gag him/her with more spider-web.

Comments and opinions will be welcome! :)

Thanks so much for kicking it off man! Never heard about this one and you did a great job! Didn't even think about the "Choose Your Own Adventure" genre for this. They were always filled with these types of things.

You're welcome. :) I thinked if I choose one of these books it could be be a little "cheat", but well, I was very happy to draw this scene. XD

Well since the main character is open to interpretation I say it's a fair cheat! :P

That's an interesting one. Didn't think any real life people would make it into this theme. Pretty funny.

Red Coat: "Now, keep good watch!"

My tribute to the month comes from the poem "The Highwayman".

At it's core it's quite romantic, but the ending is quite tragic.

Let's just pretend that the "canon" ending never happened...
