By now, I'm certain many of you are keeping a close eye on Irene, especially if you are in the path predicted to be the hardest hit.
Having been through two storms (Katrina & Gustav), I can tell you right now, it's not pretty and it may be awhile after the storm hits before things return to normal.
If you live in the Continental U.S. & are in the projected path(s) of Irene, please speak. It may be awhile before you'll be able to get back online, much less come on here.
And if you aren't, leave your thoughts about it anyway.

Re: Hurricane Irene..
I'm in Washington D.C. Most of the city is hunkering down, but staying put. The shelves aren't bare, even though we've all stocked up as much as we could. I've got enough water, cans and staples to get me through the next week. I'm a bit anxious of course, but not too scared because I think I've seen worse. I was in northern Japan last March when their earthquake hit (and I was here when we had our earthquake on Tues. It's enough to make a man believe in signs and portents). Fortunately, I was prepared supply-wise for that earthquake. So I think I know what I'm doing.
Stay safe and dry everyone. As of 9:45 AM DC is overcast, the streets are pretty empty, but no rain yet. We'll see.
