For those who follow film scores (such as yours truly) this is either a time for celebration or a slap in the face:
Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is to be given the outstanding contribution to music award at this year's Classic Brits.
The German composer has scored the music for more than 100 films over a 30-year career.
He won an Oscar in 1995 for best original score for the Lion King.
Other films he has composed for include Rain Man, Crimson Tide, Gladiator, The Pirates of the Caribbean films and The Dark Knight Rises.

Hans Zimmer makes phenomenal music, I don't see why anyone would see this as a slap in the face. Good for him.

Because some people don't like the way his influence has gotten in the more recent films to have come out.Suicide wrote:Hans Zimmer makes phenomenal music, I don't see why anyone would see this as a slap in the face. Good for him.
To put it bluntly, for every one person who likes his work, there are others who resent his influence and those of his protégés (John Powell, Harry Gregerson-Williams, Ramin Djawadi, Steve Jablonsky, Henry Jackman, Marc Streitefeld) have had on more recent films.
Good Night and Good Luck..
